Robert Grosser – President
Mr. Grosser is President of the Homestar Direct group of Metrocities
Mortgage,
Mr. Grosser began his career in mortgage lending with his founding in 1985
of Ready Funding Corp., a regional, private mortgage brokerage firm serving
the needs of homeowners in the New York metropolitan area. In 1987, he
acquired Cityscape Corp., a mortgage banking company that grew to national
and international scale. Mr. Grosser served as Chairman and CEO from the
company’s inception through November 1997.
Mr. Grosser was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Wilmington
National Finance, Inc. a sub prime mortgage subsidiary of Wilmington Savings
Fund Society, FSB (NASDAQ: WSFS). In November 2002, an agreement was reached
to sell Wilmington Finance Inc. to American General Finance Inc.,
Evansville, Ind. The acquisition by AGI was completed on January 1, 2003.
Mr. Grosser also serves as a Director of BMN Interactive, a company that
provides technology to the food and beverage service industry.
In 1999 Mr. Grosser founded Homestar Direct with a focus on providing
customers great service, a wide array of products and fair rates. He
developed a strict code of conduct and developed best practices that include
providing customers with the best rate they qualify for based on their
credit profile.
Steven Weiss – General Manager
Mr. Weiss has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial and
residential mortgage industry with a concentration in sales and marketing.
Mr. Weiss started his career as the President and Founder of two companies -
County Seat Capital, a registered New York Mortgage broker as well as Record
Research, a title and appraisal provider.
During this time, Mr. Weiss’ main responsibilities included marketing, sales
and operations. Steve became the Vice President of Sales at Astrum Funding
Corporation then took the role of Executive Vice President of Sales for
Cityscape Mortgage where he expanded his responsibilities in the sales and
operations to a national level. Prior to becoming the Branch Manager of
Homestar Direct in 2000, Steve was the Senior Vice President at Northern
Star Funding. Now at Homestar, Steve’s taken the knowledge he’s acquired
during the past 20 years and has developed an ideal environment for
inspiring and educating his staff.
Kristine Mainardi – Operations Manager
Ms. Mainardi, the Operations Manager at Homestar Direct, has been a manager
in the mortgage industry for more than 10 years. She began her career as a
Wholesale Manager with Cityscape Mortgage where she was responsible for the
bulk buying of brokered loans throughout the Midwest region. Kristine then
expanded her scope of responsibilities as an Underwriting Manager with
Direct Mortgage Partners, supervising her own staff that increased
profitability by more than 50 percent for the company. She then moved back
to the Northeast where she managed a 20 person staff in 5 states for New
Jersey Mortgage as a Wholesale Manager and Underwriter. For the past 5 years
at Homestar Direct, Kristine manages a processing staff supporting more than
30 loan officers. She has become a consultant for her staff, participates in
all branch management strategy sessions and initiates training and new
development programs for loan processors.
James Troia – Director of Information
Technology
Mr. Troia began his career at the General Electric Corporation in 1989.
While successfully completing both the GE Financial Management Program as
well as the Information Management Leadership program, Mr. Troia’s
experiences included financial planning and analysis, process improvement,
and technology project management. After GE, James spent 5 years in the IT
consulting field managing client/server, intranet and Internet projects for
Fortune 1000 companies. In 1998, James founded the Real Estate Exchange
Network, Inc., which provided technology solutions and real estate
information to the Mortgage Banking industry. James served as COO of the
company from 1998 to 2001 and was responsible for the technology,
advertising and marketing, finance and HR functions of the organization.
James joined Homestar Direct in the first quarter of 2002 focused on
improving operational efficiencies through the intelligent application of
technology.
Paul Wharton – Director of Marketing
Paul Wharton joined Homestar Direct in the fall of 2004 as Director of
Marketing. Paul has over 20 years professional marketing experience. He
earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Penn State
University before proceeding to earn his MBA with a Marketing emphasis from
Fairleigh Dickenson University. Paul draws upon a wide base of B2B and B2C
marketing experience including positions in product management, marketing
communications, and sales. His last position before joining Homestar Direct
was outside the banking industry. For four years, he was the National
Marketing Manager for the Panasonic Digital Document Company where he headed
up a department of product specialists, vertical marketing, and marketing
communications. Personally, Paul has always put a strong emphasis on
understanding the customer thoroughly to best anticipate and exceed
customer's expectations.
Nancy Sommers – Senior Underwriter
Ms. Sommers has been in the mortgage industry for 18 years. She began her
career working for Coronet Capital, a private mortgage banker specializing
in commercial loans and super jumbo residential mortgages. After packaging
loans for sale at Coronet, Nancy began processing residential loans for
Marathon Capital, a Westchester County, NY based mortgage broker. In 1991,
Nancy took her processing skills to Cityscape Corp., and was quickly
promoted to a Senior Underwriting position. Nancy has served as Homestar
Direct’s Senior Underwriter since 1999. In addition to underwriting
conventional and sub prime residential mortgages, Nancy has obtained her DE
through HUD to underwrite FHA mortgages. Nancy also provides product
training to loan officers.
Morton Glazer – Controller
Mr. Glazer has more than 30 years of extremely diversified private
accounting and consulting experience. He holds a BBA from The City College
of New York and an MBA from Hofstra University. Since joining Homestar
Direct in 2003, he has leveraged a wealth of experience in accounting,
budgeting, cost containment and contract negotiation.
